One Dress, One Size, Less Clothing

Brooklyn based Butter by Nadia is not the first designer to come up with the concept one dress, one size, 20+ options, but she does have a beautiful product on offer. Showing 24 dress options in jersey or satin, including a satin ball gown, Nadia offers collections for Spring 09 and Bridal in a wide variety of beautiful colors and prints. Options fall to the knee, tea length or full maxi. Jersey dresses are priced at $246.00 online. All items are made in the USA. All garments are labled for environmentally responsible care.

Addressing the use phase of the garment life-cycle, this is a responsible choice. The garment can be worn a variety of ways. Imagine your closet with ONE dress that gives you 20+ styles! It is one size so your friends can borrow it, your sister can wear it too, or you can pass it on to any of your friends in a clothing swap! The care label for both fabric options is cold wash, delicate, lay flat to dry, steam if needed. Lot's of wear and little care is a good investment for your wardrobe and your future.

Being that I am a huge fan of basics in my closet, I think this dress would greatly benefit me. Although the price is a little out of my range for a jersey dress, the amount of wear I would get out of it would be worth the $246.
My closet consists mostly of solid dark colors that I usually add accessories to. This dress would be perfect for me in that I do not usually wear many different colors. If I were to purchase this dress, I would definitely get it in black. It would be a great addition to my closet for this summer, especially because I will be traveling in Europe. It is a great way to pack a lighter suitcase while being green at the same time!

I think that this is a great idea for being eco-friendly! I do agree with the above post that it is a bit pricey for just a jersey dress. But if the customer thought of all the different possibilities they could get out of it, I think it could be money well spent. It really lets the buyer show their own sense of style by how they would wear it.
I also like that she specifically tells the buyer to wash cold delicate and lay dry because it is the most efficient way to wash and dry the garment that we would do. It also helps the wear and tear of the dress.
I wish that other companies would take on this idea and it be a little less costly because I think it can be a huge success and woman would really love it!

Although this dress is not the first of its kind I think this particular one will be very successful. It almost reminds me of the DVF wrap dress. But even better this one has eco thinking behind it. One sizes fits all is very good for hitting your target market because a size 16 may be more comfortable wearing it one way while the same exact dress may fit the size 4 completely different .
I actually recently purchased a maxi dress with long straps that can be tied however you would like. It was so much fun to wear it out one night with the straps tied like a halter then wear it in the day time as a tube dress.
The downfall of the Butter line for me personally is that I do not have $264 to spend on one dress. But the overall design, sizing, and care process is great for a more sustainable future!

I have a dress that is similar to this from American Apparel and I LOVE it. This Butter By Nadia dress seems to be better though because the strap parts are longer and thicker and you can do more with it than you can mine. For example the styles with the sleeves are really cute but with mine you are only really able to do tank/sleeveless options. That being said this dress can not only be worn 20+ ways... it can be worn for several seasons. I really only wear my American Apparel dress like this in the summer months because it is a tank/sleeveless dress. But if it was able to have sleeves, even just short ones I wouldn't feel silly wearing it in the spring or fall without a jacket. It's a really great investment, but I think with the $250 price tag that a lot of buyers will be turned off by it because the average American doesn't know how much money garments like this SHOULD cost, which is really unfortunate.

I've seen products like this before and I was never completely impressed by them, although the presentation of this one in particular is a lot nicer than those I've seen before, which tend to come off to me as cheap, tupperware party sale items. The fabrics and colors are really what make this item so beautiful for me. I think it would be an even better garment if it had reversible colors or a matching pattern paired with a solid on the reverse. It's awesome to think of how many times and ways one could wear this dress without using any energy to care for it!

This dress is really a great eco-friendly design. The idea of having 20+ styles from one garment is great. I think that being able to wear this dress in so many different ways speaks to the customer that has a wardrobe that consists largely of solid colors. This would be a great travel piece and would translate from season to season. I also think it's great that even the care instructions are eco-friendly.

I think this dress is genius. Great price, one size fits all, 20 plus ways to wear and even maternity friendly! This dress is definitely a great piece to travel with and I think that $246 for the dress is extremely reasonable.
This dress isn't something that I would really get much use out of, but I can think of so many women I know that this would be perfect for. I also think that this dress would do a killing if it were marketed more towards maternity. When women are pregnant they don't want to spend a lot of money on multiple maternity outfits. This dress would be a great solution for that.

I would defiantly buy this dress. I think the price is reasonable, because think about how much use and how many occasions you can actually where this too. I think this is a really great idea. Free People introduced something a little similar to this for example a shirt that can be worn in multiple styles or ways. I purchased this shirt and love it. So this would be something I’d look to buy in the future.

In theory, I think the dress is great. Yes, it is pricey, however I think the rationale is that it really is more like you're buying 20 or more dresses, as well as the fact that it is designer fashion. In practice, I don't think it works as well. I've also tried on the American Apparel version and have had issues with it. I compare it to getting your hair done at the hair dresser. Your stylist can tell you exactly how to do it at home, but no matter what you do, it never looks the same as from the salon. Maybe it's just me, but the dress never looked as good when I tried to do it as on the tag.

This is a great idea and even though some may argue that it is highly priced, I think it is well worth it. If there are 20+ options on how to wear this dress, then for $246 it's actually a steal. I know how much I pay for certain items and to get over 20 uses on this one is incredible. The fact that it is a solid color is also great because the consumer can just buy the color they wear most and have many options in that color. This dress is eco-friendly, but also is great for traveling because in packing one item there are tons of options. Realistically on a vacation you could wear this one item every night in a totally different way. This would be a great item for me to have this summer because I am studying abroad in London and it would be ideal for me to pack one item and have so many options. My suitcase would definitely be lighter and I would be helping with the green effort as well.
