Hearing of these stories kind of reminded me of the garment version of The Jungle. It’s horrifying what companies used to and, sadly, still do just to make a few bucks. The footprint that is created from making just one simple garment is astounding, and I don’t think enough attention is made to corporate responsibility. It’s great to hear of companies that are starting to put it into their mission statements, and the extra amount of corporate responsibility I have been reading about just in the past few years of research is really uplifting. I hope that certain companies are not only looking to have more responsibility in upkeep of the environment but in labor laws as well. For product development I have been doing a lot of research about labor laws in Turkey and Pakistan and comparing them to other countries and it is just horrible to read some of the facts. Hopefully CSR won’t be a WTF acronym for much longer.
